Hey everyone! In keeping with my AcaVids track record, this post is (more so than usual, I think) late, late, late! (If you happen to remember though, I *did* suggest to Dave that he lie to me about when my next post was due!)
Let’s get to why you’re here though! While there are several a cappella groups that will *SOON* be releasing music (see Dave’s aca happenings here-and just got word (thanks, Selame!) that The Melodores will need to be added to that list), there are a few that have recently(ish) dropped some new music for all of our hungry ears!
While attending my very first CASA festival last summer, VoCALnation, I met a ton of wonderfully talented and friendly people. One was a tall, then longish-haired handsome fellow, named Dan Campagna. (He stood out to my friend and I as the ‘backwards hat guy’, which is now how he’s affectionately referred to by us!) We chatted at one of the after parties and he gave me his group’s card, Fermata Town. Funny. Punny. Figured I’d check them out! Little did I know all that would be in store for this group over the course of a year! They are the recent winners of the Boston Regional Harmony Sweeps and will be heading to the Harmony Sweepstakes National Finals in California on May 18th. Be sure to check out their CD, ‘Hold That Thought‘, which won the Best Contemporary A Cappella League (CAL) album at the 2013 CARA awards. I’m excited to see what the future holds for this group! I was first introduced to Cut Off A Cappella at SoJamX when I caught their acabombs! (Must give a shout out to my fellow #adoptedKorean, Matt Zager!) They just held their CD release gig at Lovin’ Cup in Rochester. I wish I could have been there to support them in person, but be sure to show your support by checking out their EP ‘Get Cut Off‘. I most recently attended #BOSS2013 (here’s a link to my playlist that I *think* is finally complete) where I saw Five O’Clock Shadow for the first time. After several years, they released a new CD, ‘Six’, which was available for purchase at the festival. You can check out ‘Six‘ here. I also caught them at the Central Bucks A Cappella Festival. Here are some videos from that show! (Pardon the faraway view…I did not have my ‘usual’ front and center seats!) (Twitter @fiveoclockshadw)
I am excited for SO MANY groups who will be releasing new music this year, but this has been a GREAT start so far! I should probably go work on my next AcaVids post…NOW…and maybe it’ll be on time…maybe…
See ya on Twitter,
